Warning Date: 4:07 am MDT on March 11, 2009

WarningSum:...Winter Weather On The Way For Portions Of New Mexico Tonight
Through Saturday...

Warning Message:A series of upper level waves are expected to move across north and
central New Mexico tonight through Saturday. The first system will
bring a mixture of light rain...freezing rain...sleet...and snow over
the east central and southeast plains tonight. Temperatures across
this region will hover in the 30s this afternoon then fall into the
middle 20s overnight. Very light accumulations of freezing rain...
sleet...and snow are expected over Chaves...Curry...and Roosevelt
counties through Thursday morning. 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible
farther west over the Sandia...Manzano...and Sacramento Mountains
through Thursday morning.
The focus will then shift to several disturbances expected to pass
slowly east across the northern mountains and northeast plains
Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning. The potential exists
for several inches of snowfall over the higher terrain of northern
and central New Mexico...including portions of the northeast plains.
At this time it appears the heaviest snowfall accumulations will
occur Thursday night into Friday over the San Juan...jemez...and
Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Those planning outdoor activities or travel across New Mexico
Thursday through Saturday are encouraged to monitor the latest
forecasts regarding this developing winter weather scenario.
